2023 National Park Rankings
By: McKenna Mobley & the Travel Lemming Team
Published Date: April 27, 2023
Note: we have updated our rankings. On this page is an archived version of Travel Lemming’s 2023 national park rankings:
To celebrate National Parks Week, Travel Lemming is revealing the ultimate ranking of the best US national parks in 2023.
Don’t take our word for it – in fact, our opinions did not impact this ranking. Instead, we used hard, concrete data to objectively rank all 63 national parks in the USA.
Here’s what we did: we researched and analyzed thousands of data points to rank each US national park on 6 factors: crowds, reviews, weather, affordability, accessibility, and biodiversity (more on methodology below).
The results will surprise you.
Here’s the thing: you’re not going to find the most famous parks atop this list. But, in each case, there’s actually a data-backed reason. Yellowstone gets cold. Zion gets crowded. And Yosemite gets expensive.
But the data does surface some hidden gems you might be overlooking! And, really, that’s what we’re all about at Travel Lemming, where our team of local guides helps you break from the lemming path to find unique and new places to explore. And the surprising park that came out first in our analysis definitely fits the bill …
