Las Vegas may have a reputation for its extravagant nightlife, and certainly some of the most popular things to do in Las Vegas are geared towards adults. But Las Vegas also has many family-friendly activities. Kids in Las Vegas will love the activities in this guide — and several of them are budget-friendly!

Discovery Children’s Museum

Venture out with your children to explore different exhibits and interactive experiences

The downtown Las Vegas Discovery Children’s Museum is three stories tall and is the perfect place to spend your day with children of all ages. They offer a variety of different exhibits including water world, young at art, solve it, and toddler town. Each exhibit offers activities like crafts, solving mysteries, and even a place where children can explore a pirate ship. 

Big Apple Roller Coaster

Enjoy a thrilling roller coaster ride and play arcade games with the whole family

The Big Apple Coaster is a great place to bring kids who love rides and roller coasters. If you have kids who are over the age of 13, you can also try a virtual reality ride while you go on the coaster. 

Note that you must be 4’6” to go on the roller coaster. Kids who are not tall enough can play fun Big Apple arcade games while they wait for other family members’ rides to finish.

Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat

Get up close and personal with some of the most fascinating and rare animals

Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden is at the Mirage hotel, and it is a cool area where you will find amazing exotic animals. Some of the animals you will see include white tigers, dolphins, white lions, and white leopards. To make the experience even more special, you can buy a package where you will get to meet and feed the dolphins or even learn how to train them. 

Shark Reef Aquarium

Come face to face with some of the scariest sea creatures

The Shark Reef Aquarium at the Mandalay Bay Las Vegas is home to a variety of exotic sharks, sea turtles, and even a Komodo dragon. There is also an exhibit where you can actually reach into the water and touch a stingray. Make this experience even more memorable by feeding the sea turtles, sharks, or stingrays for an extra cost. 

Lion Habitat Ranch

Get a chance to see lions up close and watch a giraffe paint a picture

The Lion Habitat Ranch is a sanctuary for over 20 lions and the only giraffe in Nevada. Ozzie the Giraffe paints a picture every 30 minutes, and it is an incredibly unique thing to experience. You can feed the giraffe and even the lions as part of an add-on package. 

For the ultimate experience, you can even paint your own picture with Ozzie. The volunteers are very friendly and they will answer any questions you have. Hands down, this attraction is one of the best things to do in Las Vegas

Gilcrease Orchard

Gilcrease Orchard is a lovely place to go for fresh produce which you can pick yourself. It also makes for the perfect place to do a family photo shoot. They have a chicken coop and bee exhibit, which most children love. The fall season is my favorite time to visit since they have an incredible pumpkin patch and even a fun hay maze for the kids.

👉 Pro Tip: They are not open during the winter season.

Hershey’s Chocolate World

Children are sure to enjoy a store completely dedicated to mouth-watering chocolates

Hershey’s Chocolate World is on the Las Vegas Strip, inside the New York-New York hotel. The store is two stories tall and has areas where you can customize your own chocolate bars or be part of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup TV ad. There is even an 800-pound Statue of Liberty replica made entirely of chocolate.

Downtown Container Park

Enjoy a family fun day of shopping, eating, and playing on the playground

Downtown Container Park is an outdoor shopping area with a treehouse playground, fun shops, and some of the best restaurants in Las Vegas. This is a great place in downtown Las Vegas to bring your kids, with entertainment always happening. 

They often have free movies and concerts going on in the grass area where you can unwind while your kids play. Each night when the sun goes down, the Mantis out front puts on a fire show while performers surround it in a fun drum circle. After exploring Container Park, check out the Fremont Street Experience for free light shows.

Adventuredome

Visit this indoor theme park, complete with free circus acts every hour

The Adventuredome is a fun indoor amusement park inside the Circus Circus hotel with things to do for everyone. Every hour, they host free circus acts, which are sure to amaze you. 

There are 25 rides ranging from extreme rollercoasters to bumper cars and mini golf. Their 4D theater is another cool experience where they show films like Ice Age and Scooby Doo with unique special effects.

Mini Grand Prix

Race your family on an exciting outdoor go-kart track

The Las Vegas Mini Grand Prix is the place to go if you enjoy go-karting. Both kids and adults can race on the track. After a couple of races, you can venture over to their rides like the fun slide and dragon coaster, which are perfect for the little ones. There are also fun arcade games to play inside, and tasty pizza to eat for the perfect night out as a family.

Mandalay Bay Beach

The Mandalay Bay pool area is one of the coolest pools on the Las Vegas Strip. Although it is a casino pool, it makes you feel like you are spending a day at the beach. With sand, a lazy river, and a wave pool, you are sure to enjoy a relaxing family day. 

You can spend a day at Mandalay Bay Beach for free if you are staying at the hotel or you can rent a daily cabana, with prices available on their website!

Springs Preserve

The Las Vegas Ballpark is a hotspot for family-friendly activities, with many things to do besides baseball games. They have activities for each season with baseball in the spring, cheap movies in the summer, and a winter wonderland during the holidays. 

The ballpark itself is modern and beautiful, with a pool that you and your kids can enjoy while watching the ball game. There is also a delicious selection of concessions, with many local restaurants holding stands in the stadium. 

Vegas Indoor Skydiving

At Vegas Indoor Skydiving, you will be able to take two very exciting flights each. Even if you have never had experience, they teach you all the skills you need before going on your flight.

Red Rock Climbing Center

They have memberships available if you plan to return many times or day passes if you want to see how you like it first. If your kids end up really liking it, they can join one of their competitive rock-climbing teams.

Lake Mead

Lake Mead is a gorgeous recreational area with activities like hiking, water sports, fishing, or just relaxing. Since Las Vegas does not have any beaches, Lake Mead is where locals typically go to spend a day by the water. 

They have different watercraft available to rent like jet skis, kayaks, and boats. Take a nice dinner cruise to end the day eating a delicious meal and passing by monumental sites like the Hoover Dam.

They also have a fun Visitors Center with different exhibits including their live Desert Tortoise exhibit. If you feel like taking a mini family road trip, you can simply drive through the lovely mountains on their 13-mile scenic drive.

You will find cute animals like horses, chickens, bunnies, ducks, and even donkeys. The animals will be sure to love the snacks and the kids will love the chance to spend a day with these adorable creatures!

Eiffel Tower Viewing Deck
