11 Things to Do During a Honeymoon at Walt Disney World

Capture Your Moment Photo Shoot

Strike a pose for your personal photographer at any of the Disney parks.

Just like hiring a wedding photographer, you’ll want to hire a honeymoon photographer to capture those lifelong memories. Disney’s PhotoPass service offers 20-minute private photo sessions in front of the best backdrops in the theme parks.

Since photo prints and downloads are not included in the session price, purchase a Memory Maker package ahead of time to have access to all the photos from your honeymoon. Memory Maker gives you access to character dining photos, attractions photos, and more.

Add a Disney Cruise

Why stay in Orlando when you can also experience the magic on a Disney cruise?

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (800) 951-3532 | Website

Sail away on the high seas before or after your visit to Walt Disney World. A Disney Cruise allows you to have a fun visit to the theme parks and continue the Disney fun all the way to the Caribbean. Disney can arrange transportation from the Disney resorts right to the cruise terminal out of Port Canaveral.

VIP Tour

Experience Walt Disney World like a celebrity while your personal guide takes you to the front of the line.

📞 Phone: (407) 560-4033 | Website | Cost: Starting at $450/hour

A VIP Tour is the perfect splurge if your honeymoon includes kids, friends, and/or family (since the cost is the same for up to 10 people). Your personal tour guide will plan the perfect day based on your list of preferred activities. Celebrate your honeymoon like a celebrity by skipping lines, using backstage areas, and quickly moving around the Walt Disney World Resort.

Purchase a Custom Souvenir

Bring home a personalized memory from your Disney honeymoon.

You’ll want to bring home a memory from your magical Disney honeymoon. What better way than with a personalized souvenir? Some of my favorite options include:

  • Bride and groom mouse ears
  • Hand-painted parasol
  • Christmas ornament
  • Custom glasswork
  • Caricature

Travel the World Showcase

Skip the international honeymoon and visit your 11 favorite countries at Epcot’s World Showcase.

The World Showcase at Epcot may be famous for drinking around the world, but there is so much more to experience. International cast members make you feel like you’re truly visiting each of the countries. Try global cuisines and learn a little more about a few different cultures.

Relax in a Cabana

Make the most of your pool day by lounging in a private cabana.

📞 Phone: (407) 939-7529 | Website | Cost: Approximately $300, varies by season

At some of the Disney deluxe resorts (Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Beach Club, and Yacht Club resorts), you can rent a cabana for the ultimate pool day. Personal attendants will help you throughout the day and keep you cool with drinks and snacks.

If you prefer a little more activity during your water day, rent one of the Beachcomber Shacks at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park.

After Hours Event

From holiday events to late-night splashing, after-hours events are perfect for avoiding crowds.

🌐 Website | Cost: Varies | 👉 Browse Special Event Tickets

I don’t always recommend the after-hours events at the Walt Disney World Resort, but I think they are a great option for honeymoons. An evening event would fit perfectly if you plan to include a relaxing pool or spa day in your itinerary. There are typically shorter lines and unique entertainment available at the events.

The Halloween and Christmas events at the Magic Kingdom theme park are the most popular, but the Disney theme parks host other after-hours affairs throughout the year.

Fireworks Cruise

Make the fireworks even more magical with exceptional views from your personal boat.

📞 Phone: (407) 939-7529 | Website | Cost: starting at $399

You might shed a couple of tears while watching fireworks at the Disney parks if you’re like me. Make your honeymoon memorable by enjoying the show with your new spouse on a personal chartered boat. This romantic honeymoon activity can bring you to the Magic Kingdom or Epcot nighttime shows, complete with snacks, beverages, and a captain to drive you around.

👉 Pro Tip: For a fun celebration without renting out a boat for yourselves, look into the Ferrytale Fireworks Cruise, Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties, and Epcot fireworks dining packages.

Horse Drawn Carriage Ride

Snuggle up for an enchanting ride through a Disney property.

🌐 Website | Hours: 5:30-9:30 pm | Cost: $55

If your dream honeymoon includes a horse-drawn carriage, you’re in luck! Carriage rides are available at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. I recommend the ride from Port Orleans because it takes you under majestic magnolias and along the beautiful river.

Couples Treatments at the Spa

Take a break from the thrill of the theme parks by adding a little relaxation to your Disney vacation.

A couples spa treatment is a staple of a honeymoon and a Disney honeymoon is no different. The Grand Floridian Spa offers luxurious experiences at the most picturesque Disney resort. Not only does a nice couples massage make your trip special, but it also allows you to unwind from all the theme park walking.

Dine at Signature Restaurants

Whether you want to recreate the famous spaghetti kiss or indulge in incredible culinary creations, there are plenty of Disney restaurants to choose from.

🌐 Website

Disney offers hundreds of dining options, enough that you’ll never be able to fit them all in your entire trip. Since a honeymoon is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, choose romantic restaurants and fine dining options. World-class dining can be found at Disney Springs, theme parks, and Disney resort hotels. Consider these romantic dining reservations:

  • Jiko – The Cooking Place (Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge)
  • California Grill (Disney’s Contemporary Resort)
  • Capa (Four Seasons Resort Orlando)
  • Victoria & Albert’s (Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort)
  • Le Cellier Steakhouse (Epcot)
  • Topolino’s Terrace (Disney’s Riviera Resort)

👉 Pro Tip: Save a little money by purchasing the Disney Dining Plan for your honeymoon. The plan includes one quick service and one table-service meal per night of your stay.

Best Walt Disney World Honeymoon Hotels & Resorts

When it comes to choosing the best Disney world hotel for your honeymoon, you’ll want to look at your budget and what amenities are most important to you.

Most of the Deluxe Disney Resort Hotels give guests access to multiple dining options and preferred transportation methods. Non-Disney hotels offer luxurious accommodations with less “in your face” Disney theming.

Honeymoon Tip #1 – Use a Travel Agent

An authorized Disney vacation planner will be able to find you the best rates and recommend special activities to plan this important vacation. They are paid a commission by the Walt Disney Company and are free to customers.

Honeymoon Tip #2 – Stay in a Club Level Hotel Room

Honeymoons are all about adding special touches to your trip. When you stay in a Club Level hotel room at a Disney resort hotel, you can enjoy a private concierge, snacks, beverages, and specialty treatment.

Honeymoon Tip #3 – Create a Honeymoon Wishes Registry

When you create a Honeymoon Wishes registry, your friends and family can contribute to your honeymoon fund. Select experiences that are special to you and your partner. Then, wedding guests can contribute or purchase the experiences for you.

Honeymoon Tip #4 – Purchase a Disney Dining Plan

The Disney Dining Plan returns in 2024 for guests staying at Disney resort hotels. By purchasing the plan as part of your vacation package, you can save money on dining during your honeymoon.

Honeymoon Tip #5 – Plan Your Activities in the My Disney Experience App

Get familiar with the My Disney Experience app before your honeymoon so that it is a useful tool. The app is a catch-all location for your hotel reservations, dining reservations, recreation experiences, park hours, wait times, and more.

Honeymoon Tip #6 – Wear the Complimentary “Happily Ever After” Buttons

It is never expected, but cast members love to create magical moments for people enjoying special celebrations. Wear your free “Happily Ever After” buttons proudly at the theme park and you’ll end up with congratulations from cast members and guests alike.

Honeymoon Tip #7 – Schedule Non-Park Days

Disney Springs

In addition to the theme parks, the Walt Disney Company has two water parks, two miniature golf courses, Disney Springs, and Disney’s Boardwalk for entertainment. Visit a spot that interests you or just spend a day lounging by the pool. You’ll appreciate a slow day in the middle of all the fun at the Disney parks.

Honeymoon Tip #8 – Purchase Memory Maker

In addition to purchasing your park tickets, I recommend also getting a Memory Maker ahead of time. After your honeymoon, you’ll have access to all your theme park photos, Capture the Moment session photos, and character dining photos.

Honeymoon Tip #9 – Add a Room Enhancement

Make your hotel room a magical place by adding a room enhancement from Magical Floral and Gifts. A sparkling cider set or bouquet of flowers will add a romantic ambiance to your room.
