I have lived in Myrtle Beach for almost a decade. In that time, I’ve discovered all the best it has to offer, and I’m here to share what I’ve learned to make your stay in Myrtle Beach more enjoyable.

In this guide, I will take you to popular spots as well as hidden gems that are my personal favorites. I’ve also included kid-friendly activities that my family has found through the years. There are cool events to check out, shops to browse, and I couldn’t leave out your four-legged family member, so I’ve included a few things for them, too.

So, come along, I can’t wait to show you around this wonderful city I call home!

Best Things to Do in Myrtle Beach

Broadway at the Beach

Something for everyone, all in one place.

Shopping, mini golf, boat rides, zipline & ropes course, and restaurants.

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843)444-3200 | Website | Hours: 10 am – 9 pm daily | Entrance: Free | 👉 Book The Escape Game at Broadway at the Beach

Broadway at the Beach is the largest entertainment venue of its kind in South Carolina. What I love about it is that it’s a mecca of family entertainment with activities, culinary delights, and nightlife all in one place.

With 22 restaurants, free outdoor live music, mini golf, boat rides, an upside-down house, and over 100 specialty shops as well as three live theatre venues, there is never a lack of something to do. Broadway at the Beach also lights up the sky with fireworks on Tuesdays and Fridays all summer at 10 pm.

Some of the places that my family really enjoys here are PopStroke Mini Golf, Ripley’s Aquarium, Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen, Landry’s Seafood House, The Pineapple Hut, Beef Jerky Outlet, and Wonderworks.

The Market Common

This is a great place to hang out for a day with its walking trail around the lake, shops and restaurants, and movie theater.

The Market Common is one place I probably spend the majority of my time because I just enjoy all the amenities it has. This is also the area I call home. I liked it so much, I moved here!

The Market Common is full of retail shops, restaurants, a movie theatre, bowling alley, an escape room, and electric bikes you can rent. On Saturdays in the summer, I enjoy walking around the farmer’s market.

For a rainy day activity, why not come hang out at Barnes & Noble and read a book or two. This area also has walking trails that meander around the lake on Farrow Parkway that are very popular.

Ripley’s Aquarium

Sharks, penguins, and sloths, oh my! This state of the art aquarium offers loads of activities such as swimming with a mermaid.

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843)916-0888 | Website | Hours: 9 am – 11 pm Mon-Thu, 9 am – 12 am Fri-Sun | Entrance: Adults: $42.99, Kids (ages 6-11): $26.99, Children (ages 3-5): $14.99

Where do I even begin? Ripley’s is a state of the art, $40 million, 87,000 square foot facility, and it will keep your kids busy for days. My family goes a few times each year.

Ripley’s Aquarium even has extra events that I hear are a blast for kids and adults alike, such as breakfast with a mermaid, a fin and tonic cocktail class, a penguin encounter, sloth encounter, stingray experience, and a VIP penguin experience. Alas, they won’t let you take a cute little penguin home with you… but it’s still worth the trip!

They also offer a marine science research center tour, as well as hosting group sleepovers. The list goes on and on. All these extras can be bought directly through the website, so plan in advance because they sell out.

Myrtle Waves Water Park

Over 30 rides and a lazy river = an extraordinary day the family will love!

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 913-9250 | Website | Hours: 10 am – 5 pm daily | Entrance: $46.99+ over 48” tall, $36.99+ under 48”, free for 2 and under (online prices)

Myrtle Waves is the premier water park for Myrtle Beach. This park has been welcoming visitors for over 30 years. It’s even rated as one of the top 11 water parks in the country, with 14 different slides and attractions.

I absolutely love spending time in the wave pool, but my favorite slide is called the Super Chute.  It drops you four feet into the water. So much fun! In fact, my daughter Nichole had a lot of anxiety about the other water slides, and the Super Chute was the only one she would do. She loved it! You’ll love it so much you will do it over and over again, too. Trust me.

Visiting here is a great way to spend a day when you need a break from the beach. The kids will have no trouble sleeping after a fun-filled day at Myrtle Waves.

Family Kingdom is an old-fashioned, good-for-the-family amusement park where time is always well-spent. With 37 rides, you are sure to find one that you will want to do again and again.

The park even has an old fashioned wooden coaster which is a blast from the past. My personal favorite ride is the log flume because it’s a great way to cool off on those hot summer days or nights.

Family Kingdom Amusement Park has been providing good family fun since 1966. Centrally located in the heart of Myrtle beach, you can’t miss it because it stretches from Kings Highway to Ocean Boulevard.

Myrtle Beach State Park

The perfect place to share laughter, family fun, and enjoy the great outdoors since 1936.

Is there anything quite like a relaxing day on the beach while the sound of seagulls and ocean waves lull you to sleep?

Myrtle Beach State Park is one of the many attractions to Myrtle Beach. The fishing pier is a great place to get some delicious ice cream or take the kids fishing. And did I mention how amazing our Myrtle Beach sunsets are after a day relaxing in the sun?

The park also offers RV, tent, and cabin camping as well as reservations for shelters for day use. But to me, the best part is the beach.

The camp store staff is always ready with a smile to give you local recommendations, so don’t forget to step in and give a shout out to Jeff (I’m married to the guy).

A couple local tips before you go. First, try and get there before 10 am to be sure you get in. The park fills up quickly in the summer. Second, Horry County Library has limited park passes you can check out if you’re a South Carolina resident.

Myrtle Beach Boardwalk

Seaside vibes, boardwalk style.

A family walking together on the Boardwalk at night
Life’s Better On The Boardwalk

📍 Google Maps | 👉 Myrtle Beach Ghost Tour from Peaches Corner

Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is over a mile of everything an oceanfront boardwalk should be. Since the 1930s, people have walked along this path with the Atlantic breeze in their hair as they enjoy carefree days of summer vacation.

The boardwalk has a wide selection of restaurants and shops, as well as a huge arcade called The Fun Plaza. Wednesday nights during the summer are especially exciting with a fireworks display at 9 pm.

My family enjoys going to Peaches Corner for a chili dog for dinner and playing at the Fun Plaza for a few hours before heading to The Gay Dolphin to shop. This is followed by going to Mad Myrtles Ice Creamery. Then, we watch the fireworks at 9 pm from the boardwalk. It’s always time well spent.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans

“Take me out to the ball game, take me out with the crowd; buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack, I don’t care if I never get back.”

The ballpark is located directly across from Broadway at the Beach on 21st Avenue North, and it offers affordable family fun for kids of all ages. My family enjoys going to watch these games a few times every summer because it’s just great entertainment.

After each game, kids ages 12 and under can even run the bases. They also have post-game fireworks on select nights! So come root root root for the home team! Check their website for tickets, fireworks, and the schedule.

WonderWorks Myrtle Beach

It’s an upside-down house for kids and the young-at-heart!

WonderWorks is an exciting hands-on science exhibit that brings you through six wonder zones.

Ever wonder what it feels like to be in a hurricane? Then you’re in luck. Head over to the hurricane shack where you will feel hurricane winds up to 84 mph. Have you ever found yourself wondering what the passengers and crew on the Titanic felt? Put your hand in the 28°F water to experience it.

This is the stuff real learning is all about. My granddaughter just loves WonderWorks. So much to see and do. Go check it out and wake up your brain!

Fun Plaza Arcade

A fun place for kids of all ages.

Long before we had cell phones, we had arcades for good family fun and entertainment.

Right past The Bowery and around the corner at the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is the Fun Plaza Arcade. This Myrtle Beach staple has been here for over 80 years, delighting children and adults alike.

The games that are my personal favorites are the baseball pinball game and the skeeball. I mean, come on, who doesn’t like baseball and skeeball?

Outdoor Activities in Myrtle Beach

Top Golf

Yea, it’s not a local thing, but it’s still a whole lot of fun!

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 945-3318 | Website | Hours: 9 am – 1 am daily | Entrance: Varies based on day and time

If you haven’t experienced the thrill of Top Golf, what are you waiting for? This state of the art facility has three floors of golfing fun. The best part? You never have to retrieve your own ball. It’s all done for you. Ahhhh! Heavenly.

And the food is always tasty. Every. Single. Time. I highly recommend the fried macaroni bites and the donut holes. Makes my mouth water just thinking about them.

Also, this is a great rainy day activity as it’s covered so you can play here rain or shine. Honestly, it’s one of my favorite spots to spend a few hours. I love love love this place!

Did you know Myrtle Beach has over 30 mini golf courses? Adding to the slew of choices for mini golf each year comes a new one called PopStroke. It’s a popular place, especially in the summer months.

PopStroke is a new concept in mini golf that offers a menu of all kinds of delectable food choices that are a credit to the culinary world.

And if that’s not enough, goodness, imagine this… you can just order your food through the app and they will bring you your food wherever you might be on the course. How cool is that?

This new place is all the rage among my friends.

Calvin Gilmore is the man behind all of the shows here. It doesn’t disappoint. My family loves all the Calvin Gilmore shows.

When I went, I absolutely loved the show and I didn’t have to cook dinner that night. That’s a win-win. The food at Pirates Voyage is excellent, too. So take the night off and just enjoy a family night out. You’ll be glad you did.

They offer two shows as well as hosting big name guest artists throughout the year such as John Christ, Charlie Kirk, Jay Leno, and others.

ICONIC is the high energy show that everyone can’t get enough of. So many good reviews on this one.

If you are in town for the holidays, definitely plan to go to the Christmas show which takes place in November and December. There’s nothing like a Christmas Show to get you into the Christmas spirit. Book early as these shows do sell out.

Food & Drink in Myrtle Beach

Tidal Creek Brewhouse

Is it a coffeehouse or is it a brewery? Yes it is!

The Breakfast sandwich with bacon is a must-try!

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 839-0959 | Website | Hours: 8 am – 10 pm Sun-Thu, 8 am – 11 pm Fri & Sat

I come to Tidal Creek Brewhouse often to meet friends for coffee and to have great conversations. They offer eclectic and tasty food options. My personal favorite is the breakfast sandwich. You won’t regret this choice for breakfast or lunch!

They also have fire pits, live music, and a dog park. It is very pet-friendly. There’s even a cool calendar of events that include things like trivia nights and goat yoga.

Uncommon Chocolatier

The place to go when you are craving really good chocolate.

Try the toffee and chocolate turtles!

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 945-4479 | Website | Hours: 11 am – 7 pm Mon-Sat, 12 pm – 6 pm Sun

Here’s a true story.

After watching the Willy Wonka movie at the theater in Market Common, I headed straight to the Uncommon Chocolatier to buy a bunch of chocolate turtles.

Well, my dog found the chocolates on top of my counter. The only reason I knew she was the culprit was because she left a trail of pecans and only ate the chocolate. Luckily, she lived to tell the tale.

I learned a valuable lesson in never underestimating her ability to get what she wants. If she could talk she would tell you the chocolates from Uncommon Chocolatier were totally worth it.

Best toffee and chocolate turtles I have ever eaten.

The Pineapple Hut

Creative desserts like you’ve never experienced before.

A creamy dessert on the shell of the pineapple fruit
A+ for creative and delicious ideas

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843)444-1010 | Website | Hours: 11 am – 7 pm Sun-Thu, 11 am – 9 pm Fri-Sat

I just love creativity, don’t you? Situated at Broadway at the Beach is The Pineapple Hut.

They offer the most delicious pineapple creamylicious creations. These are the tastiest vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options on the Grand Strand. It kind of tastes like a pineapple version of an Orange Julius if you remember those in the mall back in the day.

As you meander your way through all the shops, be on the lookout for The Pineapple Hut. It’s located across from Insomnia Cookies and is perfect for those warm summer nights.

When you’re done eating, you’ll have the pineapple as a keepsake. Well, on second thought, you probably shouldn’t save the pineapple. Maybe you’ll just have to come back. I mean, after all, fruit calories don’t count, everyone knows that.

Rustic Roast

This cafe is in Conway, but it’s worth the drive.

A tasty coffee at Rustic Roast

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 347-9393 | Website | Hours: 6 am – 5 pm Mon-Fri, 8 am – 3 pm Sat, Closed Sun

Rustic Roast is a popular local hangout in Conway, which is about half an hour from Myrtle Beach. This coffeehouse is charming and convenient on Hwy 50. Honestly, those big name chains just can’t compare to the taste, ambiance, and comfort of this kind of coffeehouse.

This is a popular spot with my friends who enjoy quaint coffee houses. So, kick your shoes off, get comfy, and stay awhile. On second thought, maybe keep your shoes on.

Brown Fox Coffee Box

Sip a coffee while enjoying views of the marsh in Murrells Inlet.

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 520-9849 | Website | Hours: 7 am – 2 pm Tue-Sun, Closed Mon

They have it all at Brown Fox Coffee Box! Location, location, location. While you sip on “The OG” (which is a white mocha and brown sugar cinnamon latte), you can unwind with exquisite views of the marshwalk.

You can find this cafe between Creek Ratz and J. Peter’s on the Marshwalk. Everything costs so much these days, so I kinda love that the tranquil peaceful feeling is free as you relax and unwind.

Oh, did I mention it’s in a food truck! How clever is that? This is one of my favorite spots for just hanging out and doing absolutely nothing except enjoying the day while sipping on some great tasting coffee.

Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen

Enjoy a delicious family-style meal that’s good down to the last bite.

The author's daughter and granddaughter in front of the Paula Deen’s restaurant

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 945-1072 | Website | Hours: 11 am – 8 pm daily

Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen may be my all-time favorite restaurant. Expect family-style dining where you pick two entrees plus sides, and they bring enough for everyone to share, just like you would eat at home.

Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen takes a few items and cooks things perfectly every time. It is always quick and scrumptious down to the last bite.

I recommend the fried chicken and fried fish, which is never greasy but always tasty. And as my daughter Nichole likes to say, “the green beans are good enough to take a bath in.” Don’t even get me started on the ooey gooey butter cake. The only way to describe it is heavenly!

Lastly I’ll leave you with a quote I love from Paula Deen herself: “Onions and bacon cooking up just makes your kitchen smell so good. In fact, one day I’m going to come up with a room deodorizer that smells like bacon and onions. It’s a fabulous smell.”

Note that the restaurant takes reservations.

Landry’s Seafood House

The place to go for tasty seafood in Myrtle Beach.

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 444-1010 | Website | Hours: 11:30 am – 8 pm Sun-Fri, 11:30 am – 9:30 pm Sat

I love Landry’s Seafood House when I’m craving some seafood and just good food. It’s located at Broadway at the Beach.

I highly recommend the New Orleans style crawfish bread. It is unbelievably good. Try it, you won’t regret it! Another one of my favorites at Landry’s is the shrimp and grits. Excellent!

By the way, they take reservations and in a town full of restaurants, that’s a plus in my book.

Peaches Corner

If walls could talk… this is a piece of Myrtle Beach history!

The best place for chili dogs for over 85 years

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 448-7424 | Website | Hours: 11 am – 7 pm Mon-Fri, 11 am – 12 am Sat-Sun

At Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, young and old will agree on one thing. You just have to go to Peaches Corner for an old fashioned hamburger or chili dog. And don’t forget their amazing sweet potato fries.

Peaches Corner is the essence of Myrtle Beach, as it has been locally owned and operated for 85 years. Wowee! Also, don’t forget that old-fashioned milkshake while you’re there. It’s deliciousness!

Pickled Cucumber in Surfside

Locals will agree that this is definitely a hidden gem.

Closeup look of the signage of Pickled Cucumber

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 798-1853 | Website | Hours: 11 am – 2 pm Mon-Fri, Closed Sat & Sun

Pickled Cucumber is without a doubt one of the best hidden gems in the area. Surfside (also known as “the family beach”) has many excellent restaurants but locals all seem to come back to the Pickled Cucumber for good cafe-style food.

They are only open for lunch and closed on the weekends. Prices are reasonable, service is fast, and food is delicious. What more could you want in a restaurant? This is my all time favorite restaurant in Surfside.

Try the fried okra. It is the best I have tasted in 20 years. If you like a little spice, try the buffalo mac and cheese bowl! It will knock your socks off. If you want comfort food, the country fried chicken bowl is perfect. Honestly, there are no bad choices here.

At this point you’re probably thinking “yea, I know what I want for lunch tomorrow… The Pickled Cucumber.”

Dead Dog Saloon

On the Marshwalk in Murrells Inlet with gorgeous views.

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 438-7444 | Website | Hours: 8 am – 9:30 pm Sun-Thu, 8 am – 11:30 pm Fri & Sat

The name “Dead Dog Saloon” is a tribute to all of the beloved dogs covering the walls that were loved by somebody. My aunt really enjoys the breakfast here. I love their hamburgers for dinner. When I’m in the mood for that peaceful, easy feeling, I frequent the Dead Dog Saloon.

They serve up breakfast, lunch, and dinner and it’s always tasty and spot on for what I’m craving.

If you enjoy live music, come sit on the deck out back and enjoy the band while you sip on a strawberry pina colada and watch the sunset on the marsh as you enjoy the Atlantic breeze. Ahhhhh… I’m feeling all the relaxing vibes just thinking about it.

The Wicked Tuna

Fresh seafood situated on the beautiful Marshwalk.

I don’t know if you love sushi as much as I do but I can tell you that The Wicked Tuna Grill & Sushi Bar has the most delicious sushi I have ever eaten. I can guarantee that whatever you eat here will be amazing.

This restaurant sits right on the Marshwalk in Murrells Inlet.

Nacho Hippo

Tasty nachos and margaritas, perfect after a long day at the beach.

After a day at the beach, nothing hits quite like nachos and a margarita from Nacho Hippo. They also have excellent prices that won’t hurt your wallet.

Located in The Market Common, it’s between Orvis and P.F. Changs. I mean to tell you my family eats here a lot. The variety they offer makes it difficult to decide what to order because everything’s good.

👉 Pro Tip: If you can’t find parallel parking, there is a parking garage in Market Common right past Nacho Hippo.

King Street Grille is going on its 13th year of being open in The Market Common. It is a sports bar that always delivers dependable service and top notch food.

My personal favorite is the brisket sliders as well as the black n bleu tenderloin. But truthfully, you can’t go wrong with anything you order here. Always delicious down to the last bite.

Crepe Creation

French cuisine in The Market Common.

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 839-4019 | Website | Hours: 8 am – 9 pm Sun-Thu, 8 am – 10 pm Fri & Sat

No list would be complete without my granddaughter Addison’s favorite restaurant in Myrtle Beach. It is conveniently located in The Market Common area.

Crepe Creation is original, creative, and perfect for breakfast, lunch, or supper. They have a bananas foster crepe that is absolute perfection. If you would rather eat something more savory, they have you covered, too. My favorite thing on the menu is the potato skins. Delicious!

Crepe Creation is situated next door to the movie theater, The Grand 14. Why not go get a crepe before heading to the movies? It’s a win-win.

River City Cafe

Comfort food in the Socastee neighborhood.

Always good, always fast

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 215-8808 | Website | Hours: 11 am – 10 pm daily

Whenever I want a good old, nothing else will do, pile it high hamburger, this is my first choice. River City Cafe is the epitome of comfort food. It’s centrally located and right next to the intercoastal and the swing bridge.

My favorites here are the cheese pops and the black-n-blue burger. My daughter Nichole says to try the homemade ranchero BLT burger.  It has their homemade ranch on it.

Also, don’t forget to grab some free peanuts when you walk in so you can snack while waiting for your food to be ready.

Note that there are several River City cafes, but the Socastee one is away from the crowds.

La Hacienda

My go-to Mexican restaurant in the Socastee neighborhood.

Any night is a good night at La Hacienda. Try their horchata!!

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 650-3588 | Website | Hours: 11 am – 9 pm Mon, 11 am – 10 pm Tue-Sun

Located in a strip mall by the Food Lion grocery store sits a rather unpretentious Mexican restaurant called La Hacienda. It’s such a hidden gem that you can easily speed right past it.

Don’t let that throw you off, though. They serve amazing food, and the service and prices are family-friendly. There isn’t anything that I don’t love here.

My daughter Sarah always orders the horchata to drink, and I think their margaritas are excellent as well. The quesadilla la hacienda is very good but so are the tacos. Really, everything is good here. You can’t go wrong.

Gordon Biersch Brewery

Get the garlic fries at this Market Common restaurant.

It is a chain, but still worth mentioning because it’s one of my favorite places to eat.

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 839-0249 | Website | Hours: 11 am – 10 pm Sun-Thu, 11 am – 11 pm Fri & Sat

Right in the thick of Market Common is Gordon Biersch Brewery. My family eats here frequently because the service is always quick and the food is always hot and just what I am craving.

I especially enjoy the hamburgers and garlic fries. Wow! Talk about comfort food! If you haven’t tried Gordon Beirsch, as Nike says, “Just do it!” This is a solid choice and my whole family agrees with that.

Bar-B-Que House

Get some good old barbecue in Surfside.

When you are just in the mood for good barbecue

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 477-1801 | Website | Hours: 11 am – 8 pm daily

When was the last time you had some really good barbecue? This place had me the first time I went. Living in Alabama and Louisiana before moving to the east coast means that I know good barbecue.

The Bar-B-Que House has never let me down. It’s like going home. Slow-roasted barbecue is just comfort food, and they make a whole bunch of different sauces, too.

They make Eastern North Carolina vinegar sauce, Lexington-style red sauce, South Carolina mustard sauce, and, of course, they have a house sauce that comes in original and spicy.

I could eat here every single day and never grow tired of it.

Fat Jack’s

Get the best chicken wings in Surfside.

When nothing else will do, chicken wings are the answer!

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843)238-3355 | Website | Hours: 3 pm – 9 pm Wed-Fri, 12 pm – 8 pm Sat & Sun, Closed Mon & Tue

I almost forgot to add my daughter Samantha’s favorite wing place! Last, but definitely not least, is this hole in the wall hidden gem called Fat Jack’s. Forget the chains because this local wing restaurant is off the chain. (See what I did there?)

Located on Kings Hwy right as you get into Surfside Beach, are the best wings in the world. And I’m pretty sure Samantha has searched the world over for the best wings. My daughters and granddaughter all agree that you should try the Texas gold and garlic parmesan. My personal favorite is the Old Bay dry rub.

The Melting Pot

Perfect for those special occasions.

My family celebrations are always at The Melting Pot

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843)692-9003 | Website | Hours: 4 pm – 9 pm Mon-Fri, 12 pm – 10:30 pm Sat, 12 pm – 9 pm Sun

Have you tried cooking your own meal over a fondue pot? For a romantic dinner for two or for a family celebration, The Melting Pot is always a big hit with everyone.

This is a chain but I have to add it to the list of restaurants you have to check out for two reasons. First, it is my daughter Nichole’s all time favorite restaurant. Second, they are the #1 restaurant out of almost 800 restaurants in the Myrtle Beach area on TripAdvisor.

Need I say more? The reviews speak for themselves, but I will tell you what I like about it. It is an experience, and not a quick meal, which means you spend a couple of hours in actual conversation with your family.

We always opt for the four courses and through each course, we have a fabulous time connecting and laughing while we enjoy the evening.

Ole Smoky Distillery & Yee-Haw Brewing Co.

Broadway at the Beach is growing again.

Coming to Broadway at the Beach in spring 2026. Ole Smoky Distillery & Yee-Haw Brewing Co. will have a brewpub restaurant, tasting room, guided tours and of course retail. It will also include Southern dining, live music, and events.

South Coast Beer Project

An upcoming family-friendly craft brewery.

Opening in summer of 2026, South Coast Beer Project is Carolina Forest’s first craft brewery. It will be complete with a taproom, outdoor beer garden and local beer. They will have a play area for the kids and a dog park for your favorite canine. They plan on having community events as well.

Free Things to Do in Myrtle Beach

A fireworks show is always fun

There are awesome fireworks shows in Myrtle and North Myrtle in the summer months if weather permits. They take place at a few different locations.

Head to Barefoot Landing on Mondays at 10 pm. Broadway Beach does fireworks on Tuesdays at 10 pm. And finally, watch fireworks at Myrtle Beach Boardwalk on Wednesdays at 9 pm. Enjoy!

Live Music In Memorial Park

Bring your lawn chair for a nice evening of music and fun in Surfside Beach.

Shopping in Myrtle Beach

Tanger Outlets

Two outlets to choose from, on Hwy 501 & Hwy 17.

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 236-5100 | Website | Hours: 10 am – 8 pm Mon-Thu, 10 am – 9 pm Fri-Sat, 10 am – 7 pm Sun

Tanger Outlet was one of the first massive shopping centers to come to Myrtle Beach. That was 23 years ago, and it is still thriving and still growing.

One Tanger Outlet is on Hwy 501 heading toward Conway and the other is on Hwy 17 closer to North Myrtle. I’ve enjoyed both Tanger Outlets since they opened their doors.

It’s nice to have choices isn’t it? Besides retail shops, you’ll also find several restaurants where you can sit and rest a spell, cool off, and recharge.

Coastal Grand Mall

This centrally located mall has a nice theater and all your favorite stores.

Life is short, buy the shoes!

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843)839-9110 | Website | Hours: 10 am – 9 pm Mon-Sat, 12 pm – 6 pm Sun

Coastal Grand Mall is my go-to place when I want to see a movie (they have those comfy theater seats) or just need to get out of the house for a girls day.

With so many malls struggling today, it’s good to know Coastal Grand is still doing well. Rain or shine, you will find this place stays pretty busy. Shout out to my favorite store, Old Navy!

All in all, though, it’s a really welcoming and clean mall with good food options. Plus, you’ll find all the usual boutique shops and chains like J.C. Penney.

👉 Pro Tip: Check out The Crazy Mason which sits right beside the mall. Unbelievable milkshake creations. Bring a friend to share it because they are very large!

Barefoot Landing

A North Myrtle Beach pride & joy.

Shopping, restaurants and entertainment in North Myrtle Beach

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 272-8349 | Website | Hours: 10 am – 6 pm daily

How does one describe what an enormously large village Barefoot Landing has become over the years? Like Broadway at the Beach and The Market Common, the whole plan was well thought out and developed with all the retail shops and restaurants you could ever want or need.

Barefoot Landing is where the famous Alabama Theatre is, as well as Duplin Winery, which offers wine tastings for a small fee. Book online. They even have a fireworks show over the lake on Mondays at 10 pm.

I’ve also heard a lot of good things from my friends that have enjoyed axe throwing here. So why not give it a try while you are in the area?

Asian Mart

The best rolled ice cream and boba tea in Myrtle Beach!

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 839-2252 | Hours: 9:30 am – 8 pm daily

Whether you are looking for mochi, ramen, tteokbokki, or just wanting to try new snack foods, Asian Mart is the place to go.

It is also wonderful for those hot summer beach days when you’re feeling like a sweet treat. Stop by and grab a rolled ice cream or boba tea to cool off. It’s located very close to Broadway at the Beach

The Gay Dolphin

A one stop shopping extravaganza.

On the Boardwalk

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843)448-6550 | Website | Hours 9:30 am – 6:30 pm daily (summer hours)

Family owned and operated, The Gay Dolphin opened their doors in 1946, and it quickly became a Myrtle Beach favorite. My family has been shopping here since 1973, and we always look forward to it. You just have to see it to believe it.

As far as shopping goes, on a scale from 1-10, it’s at least a 20. They have everything (and I do mean everything) in this megastore.

It’s located one block south of the SkyWheel on Ocean Blvd. and the Oceanfront Boardwalk. It is right in the heart of everything.

The Gay Dolphin has been bringing smiles to the Myrtle Beach Grand Strand for over 70 years. That’s a long time.

EdVenture Myrtle Beach is a hands-on learning museum for children to explore, learn, grow and expand their minds. The newest exhibit is “Draw Alive” where children can watch their drawings come to life.

EdVenture has six rooms, a flight simulator, Publix grocery store and so much more. Your kids will thank you and think you’re just the best for bringing them here.

My friends have all been saying how much they appreciate this play zone because of how much their kids enjoy it. This is a really fun interactive rainy day activity that will get rid of their boredom blues.

Fun Warehouse Roller Skating

A wholesome and fun experience for the whole family in Surfside.

Remember when roller skating was popular? It’s just as popular as ever at the Fun Warehouse

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 748-0302 | Website | Hours: Varies | Entrance: $13.25 + skate rental

On 544 (Dick Pond Rd) close to the Wal-Mart is Fun Warehouse. This place has everything you need to enjoy the day — skating is only a part of it. They have go-karts, an arcade, and laser tag, too.

It’s just good old fashioned fun and exercise. I take my granddaughter here, and we have a blast. It’s perfect if you’re looking for something else to do not far from the beach, or if it’s a rainy day.

Check the website for prices. While you’re there, go ahead and sign and print the waiver to save time.

810 Bowling

An upscale bowling alley in The Market Common.

What vacation would be complete without at least one night of bowling? This isn’t your mom or dad’s bowling alley. 810 Bowling is so much more than bowling used to be.

Upscale and classy, they have sophisticated culinary delights that will make even the pickiest eater happy. Check out Mean Mugs Milkshake Bar inside, and go ahead and splurge, calories don’t count on vacation.

👉 Pro Tip: Reserve a lane online!

Grand 14 Theatre

Need a break from the beach? Catch a movie at The Market Common.

Close to everything in Market Common is the “Grand 14” Theatre.

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 315-2991 | Website

The Grand 14 is centrally located near restaurants and upscale shops in The Market Common. Coming here is a fun summertime or anytime activity. Why not just spend a non-beach day here and go see a movie? My family has enjoyed many movies here.

In the summer, they also offer discount prices for kids’ movies. After the movie, head over to The Uncommon Chocolatier for an after-movie indulgence.

Big Air

Are the kids bouncing off the walls? Bring them here. It’s legit!

📍 Google Maps | Phone: (843) 491-1444 | Website |  Hours 10 am – 8:30 pm Mon-Thu, 10 am – 9 pm Fri & Sat, 8 am – 8:30 pm Sun | Entrance: $22 for 90 min, $26 for 2 hours, $30 for unlimited (does not include $4 air socks), $7 for ages 2 and under, with a paying adult

Are you looking for a place where a kid can be a kid? Big Air is the place! Your kiddos can legitimately bounce off the walls without getting hurt and have a blast while they’re doing it. They even have a special time just for toddlers, so check out the website, sign the waiver, and you’re good to go.

Big Air has trampolines, dodgeball courts, slam dunk courts, ninja-warrior courses, launch pads, freestyle courts, and so much more.

It’s centrally located and practically right across from Myrtle Beach State Park. It’s close to Market Common, too. Your kids will enjoy this one rain or shine.

Dog Friendly Activities in Myrtle Beach

What list or recommendation would be complete without recognizing the canine member of your family? If you need a place to keep your pooch for a few hours or a longer stay, do not hesitate to bring them to K9 Cabana Dog Resort on Hwy 544 (Dick Pond Rd.)

We bring our baby here three times a week for daycare, and she absolutely loves it! She loves the people but also likes socializing with other dogs her size as they frolic in the swimming pool or splash pad.

She always comes home exhausted with a huge smile on her face. I’m not even kidding, not even a little bit. Tell them Karen sent you but book early, they do fill up!

Barc Parc South

Dogs just wanna have fun, oh dogs they wanna have fun.
