Klyde Warren Park

Experience a 5.2-acre urban green space situated over the Woodall Rodgers Freeway.

Klyde Warren Park is above the Woodall Rodgers Freeway in Downtown. This urban park connects the Dallas Arts District to other areas of the city. 

This lively park hosts regular events, from yoga to activities for children. Kids will also enjoy the new Nancy Best Fountain. This interactive water feature has a 30-45 minute show after sunset. 

Klyde Warren Park is a great spot for families or anyone looking to relax. You can enjoy some fresh air after visiting one of the nearby museums.

Food trucks are available every day from 11 am – 2:30 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am – 7:30 pm. There is usually a wide selection of options, but they are subject to availability.

Dallas Museum of Art

Experience 5,000 years of art and cultural history in the largest urban art districts in the nation.

The Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) is in the Dallas Arts District. The museum showcases a diverse range of art that spans 5,000 years of history.

General admission is free. Special events, such as Late Nights, take place throughout the year. Check their website for upcoming events and special exhibitions. 

This art museum recently launched Free First Sundays. Visitors can get free access to paid exhibitions on the first Sunday of every month. Free First Sundays are first-come, first-served and will take place until the end of 2026.

AT&T Discovery District

A walkable district in the heart of Downtown where you can discover captivating technology.

The AT&T Discovery District is in the heart of Downtown, one of the best neighborhoods to visit in Dallas. This vibrant district blends technology and entertainment. The Media Wall, which is an 8,700-square-foot LED screen in the yard, is a highlight.

You will find a variety of dining options, including The Exchange Food Hall. This food hall has 13 eateries and two full-service bars.

The AT&T District is a great place to grab a snack and relax during your explorations of the city. The central location, lively atmosphere, and events make it a must-visit destination.

Giant Eyeball

Capture a glimpse of this iconic landmark in Downtown.

The Dallas Giant Eyeball is a striking public art installation in Downtown. This eccentric sculpture, created by Tony Tasset, features a massive eyeball. The art installation, measuring 30 feet in diameter, is made of fiberglass and steel.

You can find the iconic landmark in a grassy area near the Joule Hotel. It is a must for art enthusiasts and visitors looking for a unique photo. The yard around the eyeball is fenced off except during special events.

Deep Ellum

A dynamic entertainment district with more than 30 live music venues, often referred to as the live music capital of North Texas.

Deep Ellum is about a 6-minute drive from Downtown. This entertainment district is often referred to as the live music capital of North Texas.

Experience over 30 live music venues, a thriving arts scene, an array of street art, and a variety of eateries.

Experience the district’s diverse food scene in the Deep Ellum Foodie Lovers Tour. There is also an optional happy hour stop, but drinks are not included in the cost of the tour.

Dallas Arts District

The Dallas Arts District is a lively destination in the heart of Downtown. This 68-acre district is the largest urban arts district in the United States.

The area boasts a collection of museums, theaters, and performance venues. The Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, Crow Museum of Asian Art, and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra are in this district. Among many other popular destinations.

Bishop Arts District

Experience one of Dallas’s most unique districts, which is home to over 60 independent establishments.

The Bishop Arts District is in the heart of Oak Cliff. This district boasts over 60 independent establishments, including boutiques, art galleries, and eateries. It is also one of the most walkable areas in Dallas.

Visitors will discover lively streets, vibrant street murals, and eclectic boutiques. Book lovers will enjoy The Wild Detectives, one of my favorite spots. This indie bookstore is a great place to grab a coffee or adult beverage. They host events throughout the year.

This unique neighborhood is a great area for anyone looking to have a relaxing day. You can stroll around, grab a drink or bite to eat, and support local businesses.

Reunion Tower

Visit the 360-degree GeO-Deck for breathtaking views of the Dallas skyline.

The Reunion Tower Observation Deck offers a 360-degree view of the Dallas skyline. This iconic structure, which is 560 feet above Downtown, is home to the GeO-Deck. This observation deck offers some of the best views of the Dallas skyline. I suggest booking tickets in advance if you want to visit the observation deck.

The Crown Block restaurant is also a popular spot at Reunion Tower. Here you can dine, enjoy a cocktail, and take in the city views.

Make reservations for the Crown Block as it is usually booked, but the small bar is first come first serve. The Crown Block restaurant has a dress code, so make sure to review it if you decide to make reservations.

Reunion Tower is a must when visiting Dallas, especially if you want to take in views of the skyline.

Dallas Farmers Market

A great spot to grab a bite to eat, support local businesses, and take in some views of the skyline.

The Dallas Farmers Market is a vibrant hub for local produce, artisanal goods, and food. This market is in the Dallas Downtown Historic District. 

The Dallas Farmers Market consists of The Shed and The Market. The weekly farmer’s market is on Saturday and Sunday in The Shed. The Market, which consists of eateries and unique shops, is open daily. 

One of my top recommendations here is Ruibal’s Plants. It is home to The Garden Shop, where you can shop for unique items. 

Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens

Explore a 66-acre oasis of meticulously manicured gardens with annual events.

On the shores of White Rock Lake in Dallas, The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens spans 66 acres. You can explore manicured gardens, seasonal flowers, and annual events.

Dallas Blooms, which starts in late February and ends in early April, is the largest annual flower festival in the Southwest. Throughout the festival, 500,000 bulbs from 120 different varieties bloom. The vast assortment makes The Dallas Arboretum a perfect place to welcome spring.

You can bring your own coolers with food/drinks, so it is a great place for a picnic!

If you’re visiting Dallas without a car or just don’t want to deal with driving, you can book this tour of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens that includes transportation from Downtown. 

Trinity Groves

Explore an artsy district and walk across the Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Bridge to capture stunning views of the city.

Trinity Groves is a 15-acre entertainment district in West Dallas. The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, which spans the Trinity River, connects the district to Downtown. Trinity Groves is a short drive away from the heart of Downtown. 

Visitors will find unique art installations, murals, scenic views, and plenty of eateries. ArtPark is a colorful outdoor hangout in Trinity Groves that is both dog and kid-friendly. This space is popular for its rotating art from local art communities. You can grab a bite at one of the nearby eateries. 

The Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Bridge is a short walk from Trinity Groves. This bridge offers some of the most stunning views of the Dallas skyline. It is a great spot to stroll with friends or family and capture stunning photos.

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza

Take a step back in time to learn about the legacy and assassination of former President John F. Kennedy.

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza is in the Dallas Downtown Historic District. The museum is at the former Texas School Book Depository building.

The main exhibit is John F. Kennedy and the Memory of a Nation is on the sixth floor. You can learn more about the assassination and legacy of former President John F. Kennedy. The seventh floor is home to special exhibits and public programs.

Fort Worth Stockyards

A historic district in Fort Worth where cowboy culture and history come alive in a bustling atmosphere.

The Fort Worth Stockyards are approximately 37 miles west of Downtown. This historic district, which displays Fort Worth’s cowboy history, is worth the drive. Visitors come to experience the blend of history, entertainment, and Western charm.

The daily cattle drives, rodeos, and western-themed attractions showcase Fort Worth’s past. The Fort Worth Twice Daily Cattle Drive is every day at 11:30 am and 4:00 pm. Make sure to get there early, because the cattle drives usually draw in a big crowd.

McKinney Avenue

Visit one of the most walkable neighborhoods in Dallas.

McKinney Avenue in Uptown is one of the most walkable and accessible areas in Dallas. The McKinney Avenue Trolley (M-Line Trolley) offers free transportation on McKinney Avenue.

West Village is a popular neighborhood in the area. This dense neighborhood is home to a diverse range of businesses. Visitors will find plenty of eateries, rooftop bars, live music venues, and more.

🛎️ Need a Hotel? Check out Hotel ZaZa Dallas. This quirky boutique hotel is in a walkable area near McKinney Avenue.

John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza

Take a moment to slow down and reflect on a pivotal time in American history.

John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza is a tribute to the 35th President of the United States. The memorial, designed by architect Philip Johnson, is in Historic Downtown.

The memorial consists of a simple, open-air structure. The design symbolizes a “cenotaph,” or empty tomb. This design represents the void left by President Kennedy’s sudden death.

American Airlines Center

A premier sports and entertainment venue in the Victory Park district.

The American Airlines Center is in Victory Park near Downtown. This sports and entertainment venue is home to the Dallas Mavericks NBA team and the Dallas Stars NHL team.

The American Airlines Center hosts a wide range of concerts, performances, and other events. You can take a look at upcoming events on their official website.  

This venue is a must for sports enthusiasts and entertainment seekers. You will enjoy the modern amenities, central location, and wide array of events.

Highland Park Village

AT&T Stadium

Visit the largest domed stadium in the US and the second-largest in the world, home to the Dallas Cowboys.

AT&T Stadium, often referred to as Jerry World, is a state-of-the-art sports and entertainment venue. The stadium, located in Arlington, is home to the Dallas Cowboys NFL team. Arlington is approximately a 23-minute drive from Downtown Dallas.

The stadium is the largest domed stadium in the US. It is famous for its architectural design, technological innovations, and top-notch amenities. The seating capacity for the stadium is 100,000.

AT&T Stadium hosts football games, concerts, rodeos, and other major events. You can also check out the facility by booking one of their tour options.

Lower Greenville

A lively neighborhood popular for its variety of outdoor patios.

This neighborhood offers a variety of restaurants, bars, boutiques, and coffee shops. It is popular for its variety of outdoor patio dining options. A few popular spots are John’s Café, Thai Thai, and Gallo Nero Italian Bistro.

Lower Greenville is a great option if you are seeking a fun night out or a unique dining experience. The Apothecary Bar is a good choice if you are looking for a unique cocktail experience.

Wild Bill’s Western Store

NorthPark Center Mall

A premiere shopping experience with a large selection of luxury stores and museum-level art installations.

NorthPark Center Mall is a shopping mall in North Dallas, about a 10-minute drive from Downtown. The mall is home to over 200 stores and offers one of the best shopping experiences in Dallas, so be prepared to shop till you drop!

This shopping mall is an ideal destination for anyone seeking luxury shopping. You can find Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Versace and many others.

NorthPark is also home to many museum-quality art installations. So, if you don’t feel like shopping, you can stroll around to find a variety of art.

Museums & Culture

Museum of Illusions

Nasher Sculpture Center

Art enthusiasts will enjoy the serene environment and exhibitions. You can enjoy fresh air in outside gardens and escape the hustle and bustle of Downtown. 

Nasher Sculpture Center is free on the first Saturday of the month.

Crow Museum of Asian Art

Discover the beauty and diversity of Asian art with works spanning from 1000 B.C. to the 20th century.

The museum features a stunning collection of art from across Asia. Visitors can discover a variety of art from China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia. The galleries showcase work based on regions. The art spans from 1000 B.C. to the 20th century.

The Ann & Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Museum: The Samurai Collection

Explore one of the largest collections of samurai artifacts outside of Japan.

The Ann & Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Museum: The Samurai Collection is in Downtown. The museum has one of the largest collections of samurai artifacts outside of Japan. 

The collection features over 1,000 pieces of samurai armor and artifacts spanning 700 years of Japanese history. The museum is a permanent home to many of the artifacts, but they rotate artifacts twice a year. The rotation gives visitors the opportunity to discover new artifacts

The museum is a little difficult to find if you’ve never been. You will need to enter through the Saint Ann Restaurant and go to the second floor.

Meadows Museum

Observe one of the most comprehensive collections of Spanish art outside of Spain.

The Meadows Museum, also known as “Prado on the Prairie”, was founded in 1965. The museum dedicates itself to the preservation and celebration of Spanish art and culture.

You will find the museum on the Southern Methodist University (SMU) campus in Dallas.

The museum is home to one of the largest collections of Spanish art outside of Spain. Visitors will enjoy works by artists such as Picasso, El Greco, Velázquez, and Goya.

Frontiers of Flight Museum

Discover the history and future of aviation and space exploration in this expansive museum with twenty galleries and displays.

Meow Wolf

Escape the city and experience an interactive museum designed to spark imagination.

Meow Wolf Texas is in Grapevine, which is about 30 minutes from Downtown Dallas. This immersive art experience blends art, technology, and storytelling. 

Ignite your curiosity to explore interactive installations and artistic environments. You will need to make sure to open doors and interact with props.

Meow Wolf’s goal is to inspire creativity and curiosity. The interactive experience is great for all ages. Anyone who is sensory sensitive may get overwhelmed by the exhibit. They also offer adult-only nights at select times. Make sure to get the glasses for the ultimate experience!

African American Museum of Dallas

Visit one of the largest collections of African American Folk Art in the US.

The African American Museum of Dallas is in Fair Park. This museum highlights the achievements, struggles, and contributions of African Americans throughout history.

Visitors can discover one of the largest African American Folk Art collections in the US. Facing the Rising Sun is an ongoing exhibit. This exhibit shares the history of Freedman’s Town, which was once a thriving North Dallas community.

The Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum is in the West End Historic District. The museum aims to educate visitors on the Holocaust and promote human rights.

The museum consists of three wings: the Holocaust/Shoah Wing, the Human Rights Wing, and the Pivot to America Wing. There are also special exhibitions throughout the year.

George W. Bush Presidential Center

George W. Bush Presidential Center is on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas (SMU).

The center is home to the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. You can learn about President Bush’s time in office at the museum. The George W. Bush Institute is also on the premises.

The George W. Bush Presidential Center focuses on fostering leadership and public service. History buffs and those interested in politics will have plenty to explore.

Texas Truck Yard

The Truck Yard has three locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area: Dallas, Fort Worth, and the Colony. Each location offers a lively atmosphere with a variety of drinks and food trucks.  

These eclectic bar gardens are a great place to hang out, relax, and grab a small bite to eat. The quirky environments offer plenty of opportunities for fun photos. 

Feel free to bring your dog, since all locations allow your furry friends! There is frequent live music and other events, so make sure to check their schedule in advance. 

Terry Black’s Barbeque

A popular destination for Texas-style barbecue in Deep Ellum.

No trip to Texas is complete without Texas BBQ. There are many BBQ locations throughout the city, but Terry Black’s is one of the top spots. 

Terry Black’s in Deep Ellum is an import from Austin serving pit-smoked meats and delicious sides. Beef ribs and brisket are a must-try while in the area.

McKinney & Olive

Take in spectacular architecture and grab a bite to eat in the walkable Uptown District.

McKinney & Olive is in the lively Uptown District. This 20-story unique building is home to office spaces, retail, and restaurants.

The prime location of McKinney & Olive makes it a great spot to stop, relax, and grab a bite to eat. There are a lot of seating areas on the outdoor terrace, a small fire pit, and places for photo ops.

Leela’s Wine Bar Uptown is a great place to grab a pizza or delicious cocktail. I recommend trying the Mushroom pizza with white sauce and truffle oil.

House of Blues Dallas

A soulful live music venue in the heart of Victory Park.

The House of Blues Dallas is a soulful restaurant and music venue in Victory Park. Visitors can enjoy Southern-inspired cuisine, a full bar, and live music. The restaurant has comfort food such as jambalaya, shrimp and grits, and fried chicken.

If you plan to see a show, make sure to look at their calendar in advance. Live shows do not have seats unless specified. Those seeking a VIP experience can book a reservation at the Foundation Room.

The Dallas World Aquarium is great for families and nature enthusiasts. You will enjoy learning about how this aquarium works to preserve our planet’s ecosystems.

Perot Museum of Nature and Science

Dallas Zoo

The Dallas Zoo is the largest zoological park in Texas and is home to over 2,000 animals.

The Dallas Zoo is 3 miles south of Downtown. It is the largest zoo in Texas. The 106-acre zoo is home to over 2,000 animals representing 406 species.

Beyond its exhibits, the zoo offers several interesting programs. The Backstage Safari is a 90-minute guided tour where you can learn how they care for the animals. This program is on Saturday mornings. Tickets for the program are separate from the general admission.

Families and wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy exploring the largest zoological park in Texas.

Thanks-Giving Square

Make sure to go inside the Glory Window pictured above to view the spiraling stained-glass ceiling.

Pioneer Plaza

Pioneer Plaza is in the heart of Downtown and is a short walk away from the AT&T Discovery District. This public park and historical landmark pays tribute to the city’s pioneer heritage.

The highlight of the park is a collection of bronze sculptures depicting a cattle drive. This artwork, created by Robert Summers, depicts the movement of cattle.

This art installation is a must for art enthusiasts and tourists seeking a unique photo. 

Walk the Katy Trail

Take a break from the city on this pedestrian and cycling path that resides on an old railway line.

The Katy Trail is a popular 3.5-mile pedestrian and cycling path in the heart of Dallas. The trail resides on an old railroad line and offers a scenic experience in an urban environment.

Reverchon Park and the Katy Trail Icehouse are two popular access points. The Katy Trail Icehouse is a fun spot to grab a drink or bite to eat. It has a casual beer garden.

Joggers, cyclists, and walkers will enjoy walking along the trail. It has well-maintained paths, greenery, and convenient access points.

Dallas Heritage Village (Old City Park)

Step back in time and experience what life in North Texas was like from 1840-1910.

The museum’s mission is to preserve the history of Dallas and North Texas from the 19th century.
