Fairmont Hotel Vancouver (My Review)

Published: January 4, 2026
My Review
I’m not going to sugarcoat it – the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed at to date. Now, am I a 4-star hotel connoisseur? Absolutely not. But I’ve stayed in enough hotels to recognize something special. I can see why local Travel Lemming writer and Vancouver local, Cat, named it one of her top picks for where to stay in Vancouver.
When my boyfriend and I arrived early at the Fairmont (we showed up about 4 hours before check-in), the staff treated us like longtime family. They stored our bags and took down my number to advise me when the room was ready, then directed us to the Gold Lounge.
Note that Fairmont Gold costs extra when booking, so check out the site to read all about the extra perks!
Highlights from the Gold Lounge:
- Hot chocolate bar
- Pastries of every shape and size
- Cocktail cart
- Gigantic espresso machine
- Appetizers galore
I have never seen such a spread, and everything tasted as amazing as it looked. Plus, the staff at the lounge took the time to share a long list of must-see sights in Vancouver, which was so thoughtful and unexpected.

We returned after a day of sightseeing with our local guide, Cat, to a perfectly made-up suite. Our bags were safely waiting for us there. Our corner room had lovely views over Burrard Street, and the space was big enough to do cartwheels (cannot confirm if this was tested). I was a little surprised at how small the bathroom was, but it didn’t negatively affect my experience.
As a flight attendant, I can tell you that Fairmont layovers are most highly coveted for their toiletries. The Le Labo Santal 33 line is divine – the highest quality shampoo and conditioner you’ll find in any luxury hotel. Check out the reviews on this stuff, people love it.
The rainfall shower was a heavenly experience with a fantastic lineup of products.
Our king-sized bed was so very comfy, with the perfect sink-in pillows. I slept peacefully through the night, which gave me much-needed energy to make the most of exploring Vancouver! Oh, and the best of Downtown Vancouver is right outside the lobby, so sightseeing is a breeze.
Breakfast at the Gold Lounge exceeded our expectations, with a wide array of hot and cold standard breakfast options, fresh-squeezed juices, and delicious espresso drinks. I think I had about four plates of pastries. All of it was delicious! As always, the staff was totally attentive.
Though the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is a 4-star hotel, we had a 5-star experience. I would recommend this stay to absolutely anyone. I wish I could’ve moved in here like the kids on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody (see my things to note section). (;

About the Location
The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is located in the city center – next door, Robson Square is quite literally labeled as “city center” on the map. Robson Street, the best place to shop and dine downtown, is just a couple of blocks away, and the waterfront is a 5-minute walk in the other direction.
The hotel felt very safe both during the day and at night, though nearby Granville Street can sometimes bring a rowdy crowd to the area. Multiple public transportation systems like the bus, metro, and ferry terminal are within steps of the hotel lobby. This is a supreme downtown location!

Things to Note
⚠️ You only get access to the Gold Lounge if you upgrade your package, which I highly recommend, considering how nice the lounge was
⚠️ This Fairmont is featured as the exterior of the fictional “Tipton Hotel” in Disney’s The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, which I grew up watching. I recognized it immediately!
