Hi! I'm visiting Denver for the first time. I'll be staying for 3 months. 30 y/o with 2 pups. I'm deciding between a 1 bedroom in RiNo with nice building amenities or a 2bed/2bath near HCA HealthONE Rose between City Park and Cherry Creek. I like cute coffee shops, walkable areas, and fun things to do without too much raucus. I like to hike, trail run, and snowboard.

Hi, Stephanie! I'm an editor with Travel Lemming and have lived in Denver for nearly a decade. Both the areas you mentioned are wonderful, though each has their pros and cons. Given what you shared, I think RiNo would be well suited for you and your pups, but here's further info:
RiNo pros:
- Significantly easier to access mountain parks in comparison to City Park/Cherry Creek
- The neighborhood is dense and walkable with plenty of coffee shops, restaurants, breweries, etc.
- More of an urban feel than City Park/Cherry Creek, which may be a pro or con depending on your preferences; but it my opinion, the neighborhood is overall safe
RiNo cons:
- Homelessness is more prevalent in comparison to City Park/Cherry Creek, and weekends can draw a more rowdy crowd
- More concrete and less grass in comparison to City Park/Cherry Creek, which can make dog walking more challenging
***
City Park/Cherry Creek pros:
- Overall, I would say City Park/Cherry Creek have more green spaces than RiNo. City Park offers several miles of dog-friendly trails, plus incredible attractions like the Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. The Denver Botanic Gardens are also nearby so though deep in the city, it's easy to get outside in this area.
- These neighborhoods have a more quiet, suburban feel than RiNo and downtown Denver — again, may be a pro or con depending on your preference
City Park/Cherry Creek cons:
- More difficult to access mountain parks in comparison to RiNo
- Though very walkable, this area is more sprawling than RiNo. You could likely still walk to a few great coffee shops, restaurants, etc. but your selection will be more sparse in comparison.
I hope this helps! For more information, I'd recommend checking out our Denver neighborhoods guide: https://travellemming.com/denver-neighborhoods/ . You might also want to consider Berkeley and Sloan’s Lake, which are two of my favorite neighborhoods on the west side of town (e.g. closer to the mountains!)
