My 21 Recommended Phoenix Coffee Shops
Inner Circle Cafe
A humble spot in South Scottsdale with specialty lattes and gourmet toast, perfect for meeting friends or working on your laptop.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (480) 664-9362
This is my go-to coffee spot in Scottsdale. The honey lavender latte is second to none, and the breakfast options are delicious. I love the goat cheese toast in particular. Although the ambiance resembles that of a dentist’s office, this quirky place delivers high-quality coffee like no other. I go here every time I’m in the area.
Honey 2 A Bee
Grab a coffee and a crepe just moments away from the ASU campus.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (480) 647-4199
This spot is a fan favorite among ASU students. Honey 2 A Bee is the place to go if you need a pick-me-up between classes. Their strong coffees pair perfectly with a wide selection of delicious crepes. My go-to order is the Nutella banana crepe with a dirty chai. This combo gets me through the day every time!
Copper Star Coffee
Sip on a specialty coffee in this renovated gas station-turned-coffee shop in trendy Uptown Phoenix.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (602) 266-2136
Copper Star is one of the most unique coffee shops in Phoenix. An old gas station is now a popular cafe serving small bites, pastries, and locally roasted coffee. Enjoy a solid cup of joe on the shady patio or take the convenient drive-thru if you’re on the go. Copper Star serves delicious coffee every single visit.
Grounds on 2nd
A hidden gem in a residential Old Town neighborhood with hand-roasted specials, helpful baristas, a local market, and cozy seating.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (480) 590-6489
This Old Town Scottsdale coffee shop/beer & wine bar is exactly what you’d think of when you hear “neighborhood cafe.” With local grounds and brews on display and friendly baristas behind the counter, no other coffee shop will make you feel more at-home in Phoenix.
I come to Grounds on 2nd to work remotely when my home office starts making me crazy (so several times a week). The paninis are delectable, and the staff warmly welcomes me. Nothing beats their outdoor patio when the fall weather hits. And it’s the perfect spot to share a drink with friends over trivia when the sun goes down.
Cafetal Coffee
This adorable ASU coffee shop is the perfect place to study solo or in a group.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (480) 557-5245
This Latin-inspired coffee shop has some of my favorite breakfast and caffeine options in Phoenix. The Colombian arepas are sooo good and the coffee specials are expertly crafted every time. The rose matcha was just as delicious as it was beautifully presented. I try to bring all my friends here when they visit the ASU campus.
Kahvi Coffee + Cafe
Located on the iconic Roosevelt Row, this is the best spot to WFH among locals.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (602) 441-4759
I wish I had discovered Kahvi sooner. This downtown coffee shop has ideal work-from-home vibes. Its rustic aesthetic is perfect for a laidback day in the city and the espresso and matcha are equally commendable. Check out the attached Phoenix General boutique for the cutest locally-crafted goods.
Shaghf Cafe
A cozy coffee shop serving Arabic specialties in the Tempe area just minutes from ASU.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (480) 590-4909
This might be my favorite coffee shop in the Tempe area. Try the habibi latte for a delicious Arabic twist, just one of many unique flavors on the extensive menu. The staff are as delightful as the coffee and will gladly guide you through the options.
This gorgeous cafe hasn’t just made a name for itself in Phoenix. It also pioneered the Arabic coffee movement in the United Arab Emirates before breaking ground in the US. You’ll undoubtedly be back to try more amazing coffee at Shaghf Cafe.
Songbird Coffee and Tea House
This adorable downtown coffee shop will make you feel warm and fuzzy – from the coffee and the ambiance.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (602) 374-4192
Songbird is the place to go if you’re looking for a hip place to hang out, study, or work with a great cup of coffee and pretty surroundings. They make a mean cappuccino, and the pastry selection is unmatched. The natural light in this historic building is so charming, and you can hang on the outdoor patio for hours.
This bustling area is full of great Phoenix attractions and amazing restaurants like Matt’s Big Breakfast. Check out the neighborhood after getting your caffeine fix at Songbird Coffee and Tea House.
Fourtillfour Cafe
A vibrant little coffee shop with amazing flavors and fresh brews in Old Town Scottsdale.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (602) 888-3583
Fourtillfour Cafe is the cutest walk-up joint in Old Town. This tiny garage-turned-coffee shop features vintage motorcycles and house-roasted brews. The outdoor seating is limited, so try to get there before the late-morning rush. Fourtillfour is my favorite place to meet up with friends over a cup of coffee in this happening neighborhood.
Press Coffee
You can expect a high-quality cup of joe from wherever you get your specialty Press coffee in Phoenix.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (480) 398-8426
Press makes good coffee. Period. I don’t know if any place in Phoenix beats their cold brew. And you can tell that both the workers behind the counter and behind the scenes really care about the quality of the coffee they deliver.
This operation is keen on top-notch caffeine. With 12 locations scattered throughout the valley, you’re never far from the perfect pick-me-up at Press.
Window Coffee Bar
A neon cafe with delicious food and trendy coffee drinks in the busy Midtown district.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (480) 307-4405
Window Coffee Bar should be on everyone’s Phoenix coffee list. The staff are friendly as can be, the atmosphere is lively, and the menu is unbeatable. Try a specialty drink like the Lucky Charms latte or burnt creme latte paired with the best avocado toast in town. I guarantee you’ll be a return customer.
Schmooze
The best work-from-home coffeehouse in Scottsdale serves gourmet drinks and tasty bites.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (480) 613-6536
If you need to be productive on your laptop, Schmooze is the best Scottsdale coffeehouse for you. The patio is absolutely gorgeous, decorated with crawling vines and a peaceful fountain. The prices here are steep (I mean, it is Scottsdale), but it’s worth it to get some work done in such a pleasant environment.
Dark Hall Coffee
Grab a specialty latte and enjoy the colorful decor and friendly faces that make Dark Hall Coffee so special.
📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (602) 277-5507
I am a diehard fan of Dark Hall Coffee. The green couches and floral decor are so chic, and the staff are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I love sitting on the shaded patio on a cool day with a cold brew. And the dim, cozy indoor seating is fantastic on hot summer days.
Everything at Dark Hall is made in-house, from the coffee syrups to the freshly baked pastries. It has tons of vegan options, too. This neighborhood cafe is easy to drive by, so don’t miss it!
PIP Coffee + Clay
Enjoy a delicious bagel and specialty coffee, then get creative at the adjoining pottery studio.

📍Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (480) 616-0004
Welcome to the most creative coffee joint in Phoenix (and possibly all of Arizona). PIP Coffee + Clay is not just a coffee shop… it’s also a ceramics studio located in scenic Camelback East Village.
It serves wine and food in addition to typical light fare. This is a great Phoenix date idea if you and your hunny have an affinity for coffee and local art.
Renegade Coffee Company
Grab a giant coffee for a reasonable price at this local chain.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (480) 833-1930
Renegade is my favorite drive-through coffee stop in Phoenix. This local chain offers a huge menu of different coffee specialties, as well as typical breakfast bites and pastries. The espresso is strong, which gives it an A+ in my book. Renegade Coffee Company will keep you going all day long.
Deseo A Coffee Shack
This adorable cafe comes to life with Hispanic culture and friendly service, and the coffee is fantastic!

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (602) 275-3155
I don’t have enough good things to say about Deseo. This wonderful little place is home to great coffee, tasty food, and happy vibes. The ambiance is perfect for friendly hangouts or solo work sessions. Try the Mexican latte with the barbacoa tacos for a taste of the Southwest.
Deseo is located just north of the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, so it’s easy to get to from wherever you end up in the capital city. Don’t miss this amazing hole-in-the-wall!
Yellow Spruce Roasters & Wine Bar
Sample gelato with a coffee in hand at this adorable Old Town Scottsdale coffee shop.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (480) 590-1935
This is the perfect caffeine stop if you’re wandering around Old Town Scottsdale. They offer great espresso and coffee options, as well as a wide selection of gelato. Yellow Spruce Roasters is the place to go for an incredible affogato. And if it’s later in the day (or early, I don’t judge), sample wines at the wine bar next door!
Infusion Coffee & Tea Crafters
A rustic haunt with ample space to work from home or catch up with friends.
📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (480) 968-2533
Infusion Coffee & Tea is a great spot to do schoolwork or catch up with friends. This rustic cafe offers plenty of room to spread out, even when it’s crowded, and tons of comfy nooks to set up shop. Soak up the sun on the front patio with a chai latte and a delicious breakfast burger to start your day on the right note.
Fillmore Coffee Company
Try a variety of flavors with a coffee flight from this vibrant downtown Phoenix haunt.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (928) 232-8527
Fillmore is my favorite place to enjoy a refreshing acai bowl and cold brew on a hot summer day. The environment is light and bright, and the staff are always super friendly. It’s also one of the more reasonably priced coffee shops in town. I guarantee you’ll have a positive experience at this popular coffee joint.
JoJo Coffeehouse
Soak up live music and enjoy a healthy breakfast at this buzzing cafe in Old Town Scottsdale.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (480) 907-6100
JoJo Coffeehouse has been and always will be one of my favorite coffeehouses in Arizona. The Insta-worthy coffee flight never fails me, and the breakfast options are tasty and light.
There’s nothing like listening to live music while you enjoy good food, coffee, and company. The coffee isn’t number one on my quality list, but the vibes at JoJo Coffeehouse are truly unmatched.
King Coffee
This laidback haunt is one of my favorite Mill Avenue hangouts, offering simple yet delicious food and coffee.

📍 Google Maps | ☕ Website | 📞 (480) 307-6557
King Coffee is a no-frills coffee shop, perfect for a laidback morning cup in Tempe. You’ll find locals, Arizona State students, and other focused regulars with books and laptops spread around the cafe. There’s a very comforting energy about this place. This is a top recommendation for coffee lovers exploring the ASU campus.

Thanks! Very nice article.
How did you come up with the number “home to over 1,000 coffee joints and cafes.” I’ve spent some time trying find out about how many for drive-through coffee project without success. Any help from you would be appreciated.
Hi Mardian! Great question, and I can see why the title might be a bit misleading. I am including cafes – so breakfast spots, brunch joints, etc. – in that number since so many of them double as coffee shops. I’d estimate there are over 200 coffee shops designated under that sole title in Phoenix, but easily over 1,000 cafes. I came up with this number via Yelp and Google Maps! I hope this helps. Betty
