My Review

EXchange Hotel Vancouver offered some of the best hospitality I’ve ever experienced. The doorman took all of our bags as soon as we set foot in the lobby, then escorted us to our room after check-in. Note: Make sure to bring cash so you can tip this guy – he deserves it!

Our giant room was beautifully decorated with floral wallpaper, artistic photography, and vintage mirrors. The aesthetic made me feel right at home. Though our room had no city views (we faced a building wall), that hardly detracted from our stay.

Our room boasted the comfiest king bed ever (I slept sooo deeply), a Nespresso coffee machine, a flatscreen TV (with Netflix!), and two closet areas. Our booking included access to a small lounge with delightful snacks and drinks on our floor. The quality of the food was fantastic, so we really appreciated getting to use the lounge.

The hotel was in the perfect location for public transportation, just up the street from Waterfront Station. It was also a quick walk to historic Gastown, the oldest neighborhood in Vancouver. This area is a must to explore during your visit!

One critique is that the hotel operates on a centralized air conditioning system. I had to call the front desk a couple of times to adjust our room temperature since I couldn’t control it from my room panel. It was a small inconvenience, though.

***

My stay at EXchange Hotel was, in a word, lovely. I felt very at peace in my beautifully decorated, spacious room and enjoyed every encounter with the staff. They made me feel like part of the family!

Pros & Cons

✔️ Pros

  • Exceptional hospitality
  • Very spacious rooms
  • Close to public transportation & attractions
  • Artistic aesthetic
  • Luxury toiletries by L’Occitane
  • Complimentary luggage holding
  • Moderate rates

❌ Cons

  • No pool
  • Centralized air conditioning (had to call staff to change room temperature)
  • No views on one side of the building (we faced a wall)

About the Location

EXchange Hotel is less than two blocks from Waterfront Station, where you can catch the metro to the airport (YVR) or a ferry to North Vancouver. It’s a little more than five minutes by car to Stanley Park and English Bay. You can walk to Gastown, Chinatown, Granville Street, and Robson Street in less than 10 minutes.

I felt very safe at this location. The streets were well-lit at night, and there was nothing sketchy about the block. The hotel has a doorman at all times, which makes it feel extra secure.

My Highlights of This Hotel

⭐ Staff are so friendly and go above and beyond to elevate your stay

⭐ The best sleep of my trip – the king bed was SO comfortable

⭐ The small lounge on our floor offered delicious small bites, coffee, tea, and wine

⭐ Transportation around the city was so easy via Waterfront Station down the block

Things to Note

⚠️ Each room comes equipped with a Dyson hair dryer, which I’ve never seen anywhere else! Those things are top-tier.

⚠️ The bathroom floors are heated! This was an unnecessary but delightful detail.

⚠️ We were not offered a late check-out, so make sure to get out by noon.
