Oh, fun! Breckenridge is such a beautiful area.

In downtown Denver, you have plenty of choices! Here are a few that I've enjoyed with my own kids:

- Skyline Park has an outdoor ice skating rink every winter. Admission is free, and it's $8 for kids' skates and $12 for adults'. It's close to the 16th St. Mall, which has a free shuttle and where you'll find coffee shops and restaurants.

- if it's cold and you want to spend the day indoors, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science is hands-down my favorite museum that kids and adults can both enjoy. The dinosaur exhibit is always a hit, but I like the gems & minerals exhibit for its uniquely Colorado finds including a massive gold nugget and aquamarine from our local mountains. The area is built to look like a mine shaft that you wander through.

- we also like the Denver Zoo in winter. It's fascinating to see how the various animals respond to the cold - the cold climate animals love running around outside while the animals from warmer areas have indoor enclosures where you can visit them (this also lets you warm up!)

A runner-up: Meow Wolf is a bizarre and interesting art museum to experience! I like the above attractions better for families, but I can see why people enjoy Meow Wolf as well, and there aren't many places like it elsewhere in the country.

For food, the Denver Central Market is a food hall with several options including pizza, while Maria Empanada on South Broadway has kid-friendly empanadas that might be a new experience.

I spent lots of Denver winters entertaining my four kids downtown - I'm happy to answer any more questions you might have. Have a great visit!
