Hilton Molino Stucky Venice (My Review)

My Review

I stayed one night at the 5-star Hilton Molino Stucky on my quest to find the best places to stay in Venice. Of the 12 hotels I stayed at in Venice, it was the most relaxing retreat.

Located on Giudecca Island, this hotel is across the canal from the main sites of Venice, but I truly think that’s a big part of its charm. It’s removed from the crowds of inner Venice and way more relaxing as a result. Yes, you’ll be with the other guests at the hotel, but besides that, you’ll mostly explore Giudecca among the locals.

That’s not to say it’s hard to get to St. Mark’s Square; quite the contrary. The Hilton Molino Stucky has a shuttle that picks you up right from the hotel and drops you off in San Marco. Exploring Venice is super simple, and you have a relaxing oasis to come back to at the end of the day.

And what an oasis it is! This hotel is actually a restored flour mill and has over 370 rooms. It’s absolutely sprawling and has so many areas to lounge. During my stay, my mom and I made a point to sample the restaurants and bars.

First, there’s the Rialto Bar & Restaurant. If you have some time between when you arrive and when your room is ready, this is a great place to hang out for a snack and a drink; I had the Hugo Spritz with elderflower, and it was so yummy.

Then, there’s the Skyline Rooftop Bar, which has a wonderful view of Venice from all sides. I will say that the music up here is a little bit too “clubby” for my taste, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have an excellent selection of cocktails.

For dinner, we went to Bacaromi, which specializes in authentic Venetian flavors. It is so good, and the gelato made for a fantastic dessert. This was one of my favorite restaurants in Venice!

The breakfast buffet is also very comprehensive. From hot options to meats, cheeses, yogurt, dessert, pastries, and beyond, you’ll be well fed if you add this to your hotel stay.

And for when you’re not eating your heart out, there are plenty of amenities in the hotel as well. There is a full exercise room with a peaceful courtyard view, and a wellness center and spa if you feel like a bit of pampering.

About the room, it was so clean and comfortable; I could have stayed here for a week or more and been perfectly happy. The bed is the perfect density, and I loved the multiple pillows per bed. There was a big tub in the bathroom for relaxing at the end of the day, and the room was overall very spacious.

I also really liked how quiet the rooms were. The rooms are located around corners from the hallways, which adds a nice extra level of privacy and soundproofing.

Overall, I would recommend the Hilton Molino Stucky to luxury travelers or folks on their honeymoon. It’s a fantastic hotel, and I would definitely stay here again.

Pros & Cons

✔️ Pros

  • Really spacious & well-designed
  • Great service
  • Awesome bars & restaurants
  • Relaxing location in Giudecca

❌ Cons

  • Have to pay for WiFi separately (if you’re not a Hilton member)

About the Location

Located across from Dorsodurco in Giudecca (Giudecca is technically part of Dorsoduro, but there’s a huge canal separating them), the Hilton Molino Stucky is truly an oasis away from the crowds. The island of Giudecca has more locals than tourists, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have options for restaurants and sightseeing. Plus, the hotel has a great view of central Venice from its Skyline Rooftop Bar.

The hotel has its own private water taxi station, and there is a water bus station right outside the front door. Getting around is super easy, but at the end of the day, you get to come back to a relaxing getaway away from the hustle and bustle.
