📚 What was Your Favorite Travel Experience or Story?
One of my favorite trips was actually fairly close to home. After trying each day for over two weeks to book it, I was finally able to snag a single night’s stay at a remote fire lookout tower operated by the Forest Service in Northern Idaho.
My husband and I spent a summer day (and night) in a retired lookout tower 65 feet off the ground. There was no electricity, no running water, and it was absolutely perfect. The sunset and sunrise were unreal, the Milky Way put on a beautiful display, and the five flights of stairs were absolutely worth it. We even had a wild deer decide to hang out with us for the evening.
This trip is what truly made me fall in love with Idaho and convinced me to share the incredible places I discover in this beautiful state.
🗺️ What’s Your #1 Expert Travel Tip?
Plan in advance, but don’t be afraid to go with the flow as needed. Planning your trips in advance can be a huge plus. You get to snag reservations for the best, most popular hotels, restaurants, and attractions and you get to check everything off of your travel bucket list. The early bird gets the best when it comes to traveling — especially in popular destinations.
On the other hand, don’t let a change in itinerary ruin your trip. Weather happens, flight and travel delays happen, life happens. Be willing to adjust your plans and don’t stress about creating the perfect trip. Who knows, you might discover something incredible in the process!
