    1. Sacramento, although hot in the summer, is affordable and has one of the best environments for retired folks including top medical facilities. Sacramento is both one of the best college towns in California, but is the choice of many retired military officers who have seen the world and choose Sacramento.

    2. Eureka, Arcata, Crescent city…, definitely more affordable than anywhere else and has a Mediterranean climate.
